Is there any provision to automatically degrade a mirror RAID array (in particular, a software array constructed with atacontrol) when the individual members may have become inconsistent due to a crash or power failure? I know it would be a layer-crossing hack, but if there is a file system present, would peeking at the superblock's clean flag on each member and degrading if any aren't set be sufficient?
