You should not have to do this. If you examine the 'startx' script (which the original poster said he used), you will see either your $HOME/.xinitrc is used, _or_ /usr/X11R6/X11/xinit/xinitrc is used. That is an exclusive or; one is used and the other never referenced at all. That's been bugging me all along... If you do not mention twm in your .xinitrc, there is _no way_ that it should be run... I wonder if our original poster hates twm so much because he is running no window manager at all? I just wish he'd post his .xinitrc. It would clear this guessing game up much more quickly. -- Crist J.
