If the 1 gig free is part of the Win95 partition, then you need to do
one of 2 things. Backup/Repartition/Reinstall Windows 95  or use the
fips utility. Which will repartition it while running. 

Fips has worked for me on an NT machine, but beware that it could wipe
out your disk if it fails. 

If you have free partition space, then send us your fdisk output, then
maybe we can help more.
