Ok very good, I'll have to switch to that one.

The interruptions I'm hearing sound like 'static' not the relatively longer
time constant of the 'gating' action built into the half-duplex
'direction changer' which is level dependant. Is that what you were thinking
of?

Also, at the instant of these fast random pulses I see fast 
horizontal white glitches in the video at the vu meter bars on vmix.

Maybe this is caused by interrupts from updating the video and causing the 
bus to be unavailable to service the bytes from the GUS and some fall on 
the floor?
