Hi,

I apologize for sending uuencode here, but it's only 2kb or so.

The subject says it all; this is a FreeBSD port of
a "post-Harvest' cached" WWW accelerator and object cache, Squid.
People say that it has sugnificant enhancements over
last noncommercial revision of Harvest' project cached
(just like Apache has it's roots in NCSA httpd but _is_ better).

I'm new to this Web games ;), so I can't tell you for sure what are
the exact enhancements, but even a single feature Squid has --
"GET-if-modified-since" -- convinced me to leave cached alone.
Squid works for me now on a fresh-installed FreeBSD-based Internet
gateway host, no problems yet.

Probably this small piece of work will be useful to someone.

P.S. Andreas Klemm did the original port of cached; I didn't
change his name in a MAINTAINER line. I'm ready to discuss
this issue if it is of any sugnificance.
P.P.S. The proper configuration of the thing is pretty sugnificant.
On my installation I changed a couple of important parameters,
like file layout and euid/egid; this caused some easy, but
annoying problems. So I decided to avoid changing config files,
but drop the actual guy into the editor from a post-installation
script. Don't know is it wise.
