Well, i am waiting for it right now(as I said takes forever), but here is
something else, in /var/log/messages it report the following:

Mar 27 09:49:59 ns sudo:      val : TTY=ttyp0 ; PWD=/usr/home/val ;
USER=root ;
COMMAND=/usr/bin/tar --create --file /dev/rst0 /COPYRIGHT /WWW /bin
/cdrom /dev /dist /etc /forward /home /kernel /kernel.GENERIC /kernel.old
/mail /mnt /proc /root /sbin /stand /sys /tftpboot /tmp /usr /var
Mar 27 09:49:59 ns /kernel: st0(ncr0:4:0): ILLEGAL REQUEST asc:20,0
Invalid command operation code

Other tech rebooted the system while it was running without telling me, so
I had to restart it, and here is the messages:

Mar 27 11:00:27 ns sudo:      val : TTY=ttyp0 ; PWD=/usr/home/val ;
USER=root ;
COMMAND=/usr/bin/tar --create --file /dev/rst0 /COPYRIGHT /WWW /bin /cdrom
/dist /etc /forward /home /kernel /kernel.GENERIC /kernel.old /mail
/mnt /proc /root /sbin /stand /sys /tftpboot /tmp /usr /var
Mar 27 11:00:27 ns /kernel: st0(ncr0:4:0): error code 0

After a while it usually comes back with some other error messages, but
they always have st0(ncr0:4:0): in them.
any input will be appreciated.
Val.
