Machine becomes totally unresponsive and I have to hold down the power button for 5 seconds to shut it off. Doesn't happen if I do a complete power off and then load X. Warm boot of FreeBSD works fine here. I personally think it's a video card/driver issue since it only hangs upon loading X11.
