Seriously, KDE built fine for me on -CURRENT but I haven't tested
a recent one.

Perhaps this problem might be because of a recent change to
-CURRENT.  I notice that VM_METER is not defined in my latest
upgrade.  So I looked on a 4-STABLE box and found it in
vm/vm_param.h.  Then I found it in src/sys/vm/vm_param.h.
According to the cvs log, Matt Dillon changed the name of the
variable.  Sigh.
