The basic docs are already rendered into postscript (.ps), so no problem. However, the API docs are still in TeX. I found and loaded what seems to be the right laTeX, which got me part way through producing the .ps files, but it dies when trying to run something called "index" - I loaded "makeindex", which seemed logical, but that didn't seem to help.
