When booting i get the following message:

atapci1: failed to enable memory mapping!

this is on a asus P4C800 D, with an ICH5 controller, and the device in 
question is a LG cdrw, both my PATA and SATA disks work fine.
But still i am unable to use the cdrom, no acd* in /dev.
