I'm assuming that this has to do with with the new Xft support that hasn't been fully nailed down yet. If you want to use the mozilla rendering engine with anti-aliasing, you can use phoenix or galeon which provides its own frontend. If you want to remove the anti-aliasing, define WITHOUT_XFT as you build mozilla. If you prefer to use mozilla with Xft support: if you change the proportional font in the Font preferences dialog box to "Sans serif," then some words appear diagonally.
