The Early Interventionst The newsletter of the Parent Infant Centre **Specialists in early intervention** Mid July issue In this edition of our newsletter, Psychotraumatologist and Child Therapist Doris D'Hooghe kindly provids a link to her paper on the impact of early trauma on attachment relationships. Doris is the founder of Trauma Centre Belgium and speaks on related subjects at international conferences. In her paper Doris considers the impact of early adverse experiences on a child's development. This interesting paper brings together the insights of Bowlby with later work on neurodevelopment and the regulation of affects. We also comment on two recent autism studies, one which looks at the avoidance of eye contact by premature babies and another large-scale study into the risks associated with increased parental age. Items about oxytocin, mutism and compensatory declarative memory complete this edition of the newsletter.
