I have a 2GB Seagate ST12400N and a 1GB Seagate ST31230N. The _correct_ geometry for the first disk is: 2621/19/83 and the _correct_ geometry for the second is: 3992/5/103. See below. http://web1.seagate.com:80/cgi-bin/view.cgi?/scsi/st12400n.txt http://web1.seagate.com:80/cgi-bin/view.cgi?/scsi/st31230n.txt The FreeBSD install utility complains saying that the drive geometry is incorrect, and resets to 261/255/63. Ok, but the install fails with a "Page Fault." When I try other geometries, ie. 1024/128/32 I get much better results and sometimes make it through the install. The success is short lived as when paging occurs, so does another page fault (panic). Does anyone have advice on this topic? I am not sure that I understand what gives here! Thanks a million, John Clark [email@john.net]
