Following another suggestion, I removed gcc 3.1, pruned all my /usr/ports/*/*/work files, cvsup'ed ports, and tried again. Now I'm getting a new sort of error/msg that I've never seen before and I'm not sure how to proceed. Due to the fact that the compile takes SOOO long to get to this point, I'm leaving it there until I can get some insight.
