yes, i am quite sure now that it is a dns lookup problem.

i  think  it's the later and has something to do with ppp filters. if it
is,  then maybe i should take a look at my ipfw/natd config rules (which
is now set to "open")

i'll have a look some more in the morning. time to get some shut-eye for
now. thanks for all the help... for today :)
