I don't know if it works with FreeBSD (I only have FreeBSD servers), but probably: I just installed it couple of minutes ago on an OpenBSD 2.9 box (128M RDRAM, PIII/800MHz), with the JDK 1.3.1 under Linux emulation. I haven't tried the debugger, but the browser, editor and GUI builder all works fine. I only had to update the startup script to add "-classic" to the java invocation script. Since FreeBSD is more advanced then OpenBSD in term of Linux emulation, I have not much doubt that It will work fine, and faster if you can launch it under HotSpot!
