I don't know, but it's worth the wait :-) Depends how much you download, shouldn't be more than a couple of hours for minumum install (binaries and manpages). The -current source tree here is 200MB. > How Big Is FreeBSD In Minimal and Full Install? Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Avail Capacity Mounted on /dev/wd0s3a 31239 18108 10632 63% / /dev/wd2s1c 139656 1421 127063 1% /tmp /dev/wd2s2e 3038961 751839 2044006 27% /usr /dev/wd2s3e 1519472 132502 1265413 9% /var /dev/wd0s1 1043968 778848 265120 75% /dos/c /dev/wd0s5 259760 8 259752 0% /dos/d /dev/wd0s6 314288 278360 35928 89% /dos/e procfs 4 4 0 100% /proc /dev/wcd0c 653044 653044 0 100% /cdrom So less than 1GB used here (ignore the /dos drives... I do). But that's got quite a lot of other things. I think 60MB is the minimum, but my first installation was 300MB, and that was no way enough. My current ~5GB should be enough, I hope. Of course, you'll need a swap partition, Device 1K-blocks Used Avail Capacity Type /dev/wd2s4b 160650 10968 149554 7% Interleaved That's always been enough for me. (Half of it would have always been enough, I think.) If your kernel ever needs to dump core, you'll need a swap partition that's at least as big as the amount of physical memory you have. > Where Can I Get Some Images or Screen Shots Of FreeBSD? www.cdrom.com, there's a bit about freebsd, and a link to a page with more info, and that page has a couple of screen shots. -- Ben Smithurst ben@scientia.demon.co.uk To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
