I did it. I used the 4.1 Iso image which can be downloaded.
It doesn't contain all packages I had already installed.
But they can be installed using the ports.
There was one port which wasn't available in the version that
was present when 4.1 was released.
I fetched the ports files from 4.1stable and it built successfully.

I didn't see a choice in sysinstall either.
It upgraded to 4.1R.
What else do you expect?
