I did see that, yes.

Hopefully nothing gets lost; with a lot of changes pending to this file it 
could be exciting.

Well, it may not be a fully settled point; possibly someone else wants to 
chime in on the matter.

As far as rewording, I would try "Using <option>-R</option> causes 
&man.chmod.1 to act <emphasis>recursively</emphasis>."
