This seems to be related to bug 234070, in the sense that mplayer (the only
concrete example of this problem that I have been able to reproduce) also u=

Simply eliminating the versioning script should fix the problem for mplayer=
, at
least.

My guess is that the other ports exhibiting this issue are also doing simil=
ar
tricks with their versioning scripts.

As to the linker behavior with these wildcards, this is still being debated
upstream, see the discussion in <https://bugs.llvm.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3D40=
176>.
