I solved the issue in my case. When I first ran the script I didn't notice that it created versions of several system config files, including loader.conf and rc.conf. I modified the script to make versions that matched my requirements and the keyboard hang problem went away.

Just want to say that it does the same to me. The script works great but it 
stops at the same place: 

atkbdc0: <Keyboard controller (i8042)> port 0x60,0x64 irq 1 on acpi0 

I hope there is a solution because I find the process really cool.
