Just to clarify the case with my T16, xev does not detect the key press (or
release when I press Fn+F5 or Fn+F6 on my system. That is why the devd
configuration requires acpi_ibm be loaded and must use it to get the key pr=
ess.

I admit that I was given the configuration I use and it just worked. I don't
claim to really understand it. I have not as yet figured out the correct ev=
ent
for my mute key. Oddly, volume "just works" for me with no special work. I
believe that I just need to provide the correct value to trigger mixer to m=
ute
properly. (

I suspect that the use of evdev may have been a part of this, though that is
only a guess.
