I would recommend NOT using the Linux version of Netscrape at all.  Use
the BSD version.  It supports Java just fine.

You can download the BSD version from

ftp://ftp.netscape.com/pub/navigator/gold/3.0/unix/netscape-v30-export.x86-unknown-bsd.tar.gz

Untar the file, install the "netscape" executable in /usr/X11R6/bin,
install the files "java_30" and "movemail" in /usr/local/lib/netscape,
and run

	cd /usr
	ln -s X11R6 X11

and you should be all set.  I'm looking at some Java pages right now and
it works.
