Joliet is Microsoft way of changing the standards again, now in the CD world. Is short, is a way to store longfilenames in CDs. Why the hell they did not use RockRidge I don't know. Even if FreeBSD get support for Joliet I'd prefer to have both systems, to be able to read the CD in other flavors of Unix. There's a joliet.c in the sources of the last release version of mkisofs, but it has no code, only comments describing the format.
