That's very, very old. Please try this with 2.2.6 and if you're >still having problems please post the *exact* output. Ok.. d/l'd 2.2.6 made the boot floppy and started the machine to do a floppy install, the system starts giving me the option to skip kernal configuration | configure kernal | etc... I have tried installs both skipping the kernal configuration and going into the visual kernal configuration. The result is the same as follows: avail memory = 133033472 (12728K bytes) Probing for devices on the ISA bus: sc0 at 0x60-0x6f irq 1 on motherboard sc0: VGA color <4 virtual consoles, flags=0x0 ed0 not found at 0x280 sio0 at 0x3f8-0sff irq 4 on isa sio0: type 16550A sio1 at 0x2f8-0x2ff irq 3 on isa sio1: type 16550A lpt0 at 0x378-0x3f7 irq 7 on isa lpt0: TCP/IP capable interface lpt1 not found at 0xffffffff mse0 not found at 0x230 fdc0 at 0x3f0-03f7 irq 6 drq 2 on isa fdc0: FIFO enabled, 8 bytes threashold fd0: 1.44 MB 3.5 in wdco at 0x1f0-0x1f7 irq 14 on isa wdc0: unit 0 (wd0): wd0: 258 MB (528640 sectors), 944 cyls, 14 heads, 40 S/T, 512 B/S wdc0 unit 1 (atapi): , removable, intr, iordis wdc0: 344 Kb/sec, 256 Kb cache, audio play, 256 volume levels, ejectable tray wcd0: no disk inside, unlocked wdc1 not found at 0x170 uha0 not found at 0x330 aic0 not found at 0x340 matcdc0 not found at 0x230 npx0 flags 0x1 on motherboard npx0: 387 emulator rootfs in 1440 Kbyte compiled in MFS at this point the screen turns blue with a dialogue box in the centre that says Probing devices, please wait ... the speaker generates a mid-pitch tone and the system hangs (tone & described screen stay until the machine is shut down) System is as follows from it's internal diagnostics Compaq Preserio CDS 510 Ports ===== lpt1 address 378 com1 address 03f8 com 2 address 02f8 Dual speed CR-ROM irq 14 base I/O 0x1f0 MATSHITACD-ROM CR-571 Graphics ======= 12 - 640 x 480 Compaq 1024 monitor Cirrus CL-GD5424 Graphics Controller w/vidoe Graphics Color Monitor memory = 512 Kbytes Controller ROM 1.41 Cirrus Memory ====== System board 4 Mb SIMM #1 - 8 Mb SIMM #2 - 8 Mb AUDIO ====== Integrated 16 bit I/O 220h, version 6886 Processor ======== 486SX@ 33MHz CPU ID = 0423 Ethernet Card (NE2000 compatable) I/O 300 IRQ 9 To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
