If it has an Intel GPU only, then video RAM is from system RAM. If it has an additional Nvidia or ATI/AMD GPU... it still probably uses the main RAM. If it has an additional GPU that is truly discrete, that could have its own RAM. So "does it have a second GPU?" is the first question. Posting the exact model number might help answer that.
