Its terrible! Just asking for trouble. Even if you terminate the last

Ideally your internal cable should have two external connectors, one at
each end. And whatever internal stuff in between. But if you are dealing
with a box with 7 narrow SCSI devices there is no point in having a 2nd
external connector and the later above cable is perfectly correct.

A pair of scissors could trim off one of the 20" legs, then put a 
terminated drive on the end of the 4' length and you'll be OK.
