Well, my reason for asking the question was that the log wasn't clear to 
me. There is a difference between "optional as in won't bother people 
without ipv6," and "optional as in, people without ipv6 need to go turn 
something off."  I'm glad to hear that it's the former (modulo the 
moderate annoyance of error messages in the logs).
