Is there any current information available on hassle free hardware for FreeBSD? Yes it does seem out of date. Jordan is a busy guy. I don't know if there is anything like it up to date. You may want to check ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/releases/i386/4.2-RELEASE/HARDWARE.TXT for the latest supported hardware. Best bet after that unfortunately is to look through the mailing list archives to see what others experience has been. Go through until you find well supported items for each piece. As one part somebody's personal opinion at the Xfree86 project is that matrox video cards are particularly well supported. It seems that few people have enough personal experience with a wide range of hardware to make the recommendations and those that do are too busy.
