I'm vey pleased with my Dell Latitude CPx. It's not the ilghtest notebook
in the world, but it's by no means the heaviest either. Everything works
under FreeBSD and it meets your two carbus slot requirement.

That's the only problem I have with it, and I'm sure that is me having
left something out (or put too much in) the kernel.

Mine's a CPxH, but the CPxJ is pretty much identical with a 650 instead of
a 500. Screen is 1024x768 14.1" TFT. Mouse is both eraser and touchpad.
Memory is upgradable to 256MB, I also have: cd-rom, zip100, 1.44mb floppy,
and ls-120 bay modules. They all work fine (of course, FreeBSD doesn't
support switching them on the fly. Bummer that).
Overall, I am very pleased with it. FreeBSD, Win98, WinNT, W2k, and Linux
all have run fine on this thing (though I can't personally vouch for
Linux, I know people who can).
