With jikes as the compiler since you do not plan to use gcj?

Sorry, no time today. I looked at the source for the Debian packages
and it seems as simple as configure && make && make install but it
does not work out of the box on FreeBSD.

Neither is FreeBSD, that's why the port instructs the user to download
JDK himself.

All of them from the same stub, the non-free Sun environment.
