There are several factors to the issue: 1/ Use freebsd as PRIMARY development platform [instead of win-box]. In area of enterprise development it can stand out of the crowd. Running Together CC & JBuilder on it [Sorry guys, company standard], no gimmicks with cygwin/shell. It will be only beginning. 2/ Run freebsd as Application Server; maybe not as production one, but for development/test it could be fine; later with SMP support it can be issue for serious consideration to switch. 3/ And finally to run Ora 8i/9i with native Java port. Wow. Much stable= under load as some Linux-box. Yes, it will be very nice move to get inside Enterprise Development chord. Therefore I'd like to emphasize my [our - we are few guys in the boat here= in Switzerland] commitment for bsd.java.mk. It is the right step in this direction, thanks= to Ernst de Haan. Finally, sorry for writing in such marketing style, but decisions is= usually done by management and I prepare myself with arguments which they understand :) thanx Jan Janosh Ivan Ora DB & Java developer To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-ports" in the body of the message
