I bought FreeBSD 3.1 on cdrom this spring. I need help installing software from
the packages collection for wordprocessing, spreadsheet, and database applications.

I am hoping someone can call or email me with the best packages for these
applications. I spent most of last night just loading and listing the cdroms
to try and figure out what packages were contained, but it is too much data and all I
can see are .tgz files and don't know really what the packages are.

I am using K Desktop Environment to manage my windows. I have loaded the package
from cdrom number 1 called astrolog 5.30 and I can run it from KDE, so I have
just a beginner's experience with loading and running packages. I have never
tried to install a port, but feel I could be coached to do it.

I installed the Berkley database package from cdrom number 1 db-2.3.16.tgz
but I haven't been able to start it or find any readme or text or documentation.

Your advice is appreciated. Help!
