There is an hfs utility in the ports collection that will allow you to do this, unfortunately I forget what the exact name is, but it's an obvious name. :) Maybe ls -R /usr/ports | grep hfs :P I've used this quite successfully with Mac floppies, never tried with a HD though...maybe I should try mounting my PowerBook...now *that* would be cool.
