I'm also not a friend of "scripts&friends" in a data area. In the future I want to try to improve the port. Maybe I should get in contact with author.... Maybe some of his perl scripts could be perl modules and the scripts who do the real work are something for $PREFIX/bin. You have to read README in the sources. It contains a detailed instructions how to setup things ... follow them.
