You implied some newer commits could have introduced regressions, so I trie=

few older releases out to bisect by release. Unfortunately, trying some
releases from after POWER8's release (10.1, 10.4, and 11.4) also won't boot
with basically identical stack traces. At this point, I would almost suspect
hardware, but I have two other similar systems that won't boot either for
identical reasons. The platforms page has a very similar system (S812L) that
does seem to be running OK. I wonder what's up with this.

The only thing I can think of that's is that I'm using the bootonly images,=
 and
these are all LPARs with VIOS providing virtual optical media.
