Clearly, the errors you've seen indicate that cabextract-0.2 does *not* do everything that's needed. It is most unlikely that anyone would consent to modifying the webfonts port so that you can avoid a 60 second (or less) upgrade process. Please upgrade your cabextract to the current version.
