I have had the same frigging problem since updating Xorg and have tried every suggestion made on this list so far which includes activating & deactivating "hald", which is actually deprecated; however, I don't think that anyone here cares. In any case, when the mouse hangs I simple do a forced shutdown of Xorg and then restart it. There is approximately a 50/50 chance it will work on the next attempt. I just keep doing it until it works correctly. Furthermore, the real fun is when the keyboard is not even recognized. For the record, my Microsoft friends are really impressed with this. They have started a pool to see how many attempts it takes before it starts correctly. -- Jerry ♔ Disclaimer: off-list followups get on-list replies or get ignored.
