As far as I understood David decided not to enable this option by
default (like for bytecode interpreter) and my patch for the freetype2 port
adds an option for enabling of the option.

I would really appreciate it if you could add the patch. I think this
won't hurt. However it has slight error. Please replace
+ @${ECHO_MSG} "You may want not to enable LCD filtering."
with
+ @${ECHO_MSG} "You may want to enable LCD filtering."
