I could be wrong, but I think you need to explicitly
configure FreeBSD dhclient to advertise a hostname.

Can you clarify "couldn't connect"?

Is sshd running?

Can you ping the BeagleBone?

Can you ping from the beaglebone to your router?

On the beagle bone, can you "ssh 127.0.0.1"?
