We had 5.3-RELEASE on our identical hardware (SuperMicro SuperServer 6013P-8) running as our mail server and had the same behaviour, so we quickly reverted back to 4.11-RELEASE and the kernel panics stopped. Kris Kennaway suggested upgrading the kernel as per the FreeBSD-EN-05:03.ipi Errata Notice which shows no improvement.
