This fixes the problem I originally reported and may fix different problems for others, as well. Certainly anyone running a refclock in NTP will be happier if this can be MFCed for 5.3. Have you asked re@? I know that time is getting very short and re@ should be pretty unhappy with any non-critical changes, so I understand if it has to wait until after 5.3 is released. -- R.
