There have been so many changes during the beta period already that you might as well get all the pain over with before the release. For my money, I won't even consider "beta" testing 3.0 until after the -Release, AND the tree is branched. You can't seriously call the last two weeks a beta test of anything, there were many days when you couldn't even build a release.
