If you're afraid softupdates will melt your disks on -current it is. :-(

The main point is that it does NOT 

    \ Includes additional commands
    include /boot/loader.4th

    \ Reads and processes loader.rc
    start

Which means that I was able to survive the forth breakage..
I've spent hours trying to figure out why the loader works for me.
Now I've finally figured it out.
