AMD XP2000+ with 2 sound cards:

pcm0: <CMedia CMI8738> port 0xd800-0xd8ff irq 10 at device 5.0 on pci0
pcm1: <Creative EMU10K1> port 0xd400-0xd41f irq 10 at device 14.0 on pci0
pcm1: <TriTech TR28602 AC97 Codec>

Latest KDE libs (problem has existed since 3.2.0 however) and arts installed, arts is using /dev/dsp1.2.
>Description:
The internal sound player for KDE does not output any audio.... most of the time. The only time it works through KDE is with "Test Sound" on
the Sound System page.

I have sound through arts in GAIM, by using artsplay. Using the arts API in GAIM does not work.

I can get the system notifications to work by using artsplay (or any other audio player) as an external viewer.

There is apparently no error messages logged when this happens. Sorry for the vagueness.
