Probably you used "Begin a ... installation (for ...)" in the /stand/sysinstall menu. This way you will reset your configuration to defaults. You should use "Do post-install configuration of FreeBSD" -> "Install additional distribution sets" in the /stand/sysinstall menu instead. Dmitri.
