Installing the "curses" gem fixes the problem:

# gem install curses

I don't know which version of diakonos I had installed previously, but perhaps
it had used the "ncurses" module/gem before and now uses "curses" instead. I
didn't find anything in the upstream changelog though:

Not sure exactly what changes on my system caused the error, but if others
experience the issue then I believe the "curses" gem should either be added to
the Ports collection or the diakonos Port should launch a script or command to
install the gem.
