I couldn't make it work and it seems anyway not very useful to the port.

but you are right my commit log sucked, it should have been:

Update to 2.4.0
- use system version of trio and pcre (for real previous version failed)
- fix build by properly dealing with libiconv
- nuke gdm as I couldn't make it work and it does not seem really useful
