I have verified on three machines, that it is not possible to newfs a SCSI disk on an Adaptec 2940U(W) controller. I heard there was a bug in the ahc driver, but this problem also occurs in 2.2.2 . Is this a known problem ? I haven't been able to read the mailinglists in the recent weeks. The problem is that the machine hangs entirely while newfs writes its super block backups. This also occurs when the disk is attached to a second controller. Maybe someone knows a quick solution. Cheers, Michael
