FreeBSD is up to version 2.2.8 now, the directory structure has changed at ftp.freebsd.org that why you can't get into the directory anymore. :) So, you either need to do a little leg work and find out where the directory is now, or upgrade. The 2nd is highly suggested, the changes that have been made are just phenonemal and will cause you less headaches in the long run.
